What is a personal financial statement (PFS)?

This article explains what a personal financial statement is and why you might need one.

Last updated on 11 Nov, 2021

A personal financial statement (PFS) is a document that outlines an individual's financial position at a given point in time. Underwriters request personal financial statements on a case-by-case basis.

Sometimes underwriters will require surety bond applicants to provide a personal financial statement during the application and underwriting process to prove financial stability when an individual bond or client account reaches a certain limit. Depending on the information listed on the PFS, an underwriter might approve an application or request additional information/documentation for further underwriting consideration.

If you need help providing a personal financial statement for underwriting, call 1 (800) 308-4358 or email customercare@suretybonds.com, and one of our friendly representatives will be happy to help. If needed, we can even provide a blank personal financial statement form for you to fill out.
