To find a professional individual/business license number, clients should contact the entity enforcing their particular license and bond requirements (formally known as the "obligee"). The obligee is the entity with which you will file your official paperwork.

Not all applicants need to provide professional/individual business license numbers to work with SuretyBonds.com. If we do request your professional individual/business license number, it's for one of two reasons.

  1. The obligee requires the license number to be listed on their bond form.
  2. The surety underwriter requires the license number when reviewing underwritten applications/accounts.

If you've never been licensed and bonded before...

Depending on your obligee's requirements and workflows, your individual/business license number might be issued before, during, or after the formal license and bond filing process. If your obligee does not provide your official license number until after your license and bond filing process is complete, SuretyBonds.com will not require it in the initial bonding process. We might, however, request your license number be provided at renewal before extending your bond's term.

If you have an existing license and/or bond...

The obligee that manages your license and holds your current bond should easily be able to provide your license number to you.

Whenever you have all application information ready, you can submit your surety bond request online 24/7. If you're unsure who your obligee is or have other new/renewal bond issuance questions, call 1 (800) 308-4358 or email customercare@suretybonds.com, and one of our friendly representatives will be happy to help.
